The MAX202 transceiver is designed for RS232 and V.28 communication interfaces where a andplusmn12V supply is not available. On-board charge pumps convert the 5V input to the andplusmn10V needed for RS232 output levels. The drivers and receivers meet all EIATIA-232E and CCITTV.28 specifications at a data rate of 20kbitssec. The device requires just four external capacitors to provide the voltage conversion. Supplied in a 16-pin DIL package MAX202CPE.
