American Express is making a number of changes to its Platinum Cashback Credit Card. From 11 August, the following changes will take place, Top tier of 1.25% (previously 1.5%) cashback on spending of £7,500+ (previously 1.5%) Top tier of 1.25% cashback if spend £7,500+ (previously £10,001+) A minimum annual spend of £3,000 to earn cashback (previously 2,400) 19.9% APR (previously 18.9% APR) A monthly minimum due payment of 10% or £50 whichever is the greater (previously 2.5% of the outstanding balance or £5) A £20 fee will be applied if the account is inactive in the preceding 12 months American Express is committed to maintaining our market-leading Cashback card, which is particularly appealing to higher spenders (e.g. those who spend £7,500+ per year) and so we want to ensure we offer the best value for both new and existing customers, now and in the future. The American Express Platinum Cashback Credit Card delivers a good Cashback return with the added bonus that there is no maximum to the amount of Cashback that can be earned in one year (except 5% for the first 3 months) and importantly there is no annual fee.
