Amsterdam and the smoking ban..

so, i have been doing my research before my trip on friday and you can smoke cannabis in coffee shops but not tobacco!! ridiculous.
has anyone been recently? is this strict or are there ways round it?

Havent been for a few years, but basically make sure you go into the 'right' cafes. IIRC, the ones where you're allowed to smoke the weed are ones with a big green dot in the window or something like that. Basically, if they sell the stuff, you can smoke it there.

I was in Maastrict a couple of months ago, and there were people smoking 'straight ones' in one of the shops I went it.

I think some cafes have a designated area for smoking tobacco or tobacco-mixes, some have outright banned all tobacco.

EDIT: On second thoughts after having googled some more, I think it is all banned everywhere as it is seen as a 'Killer' drug.

Cannabis is safer than tobacco so I guess it's fair.They don't roll with tobacco over there if I remember correctly.
