Gifts 'the most popular choice for online shopping' - 20/12/2007

According to the latest monthly figures in the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, consumers spent £5.4 billion online in November, which equates to an average spend of £89 per person.
The figures for last month are 22.5 per cent higher than October's, suggesting that the run-up to Christmas was a big factor in the growth.
Behind gifts, purchases of beers, wines and spirits were up 62 per cent from October - potentially for those getting ready to celebrate the festive season.
Health and beauty items saw a 62 per cent increase, followed by accessories (56 per cent) and lingerie (46 per cent).
Online shopping can often be an excellent way to sort out purchases of this kind, because they can be bought without having to be tried on for size.
