"Millions" planning to book holidays in new year - 31/12/2007
Almost 12 million people will book a holiday after Christmas with each person shelling out an average of £655, according to new research.
Sainsbury's Bank discovered that of the millions of would-be holidaymakers, 23 per cent will book their getaway in the week straight after Christmas and 14 per cent will spend more than £1,000.
However, while planning a getaway can be fun and exciting, the bank has advised people not to forget the importance of travel insurance - something which can be quickly and easily purchased online.

"There are hundreds of policies to choose from so it's worth making sure you not only find a policy that offers quality cover and benefits, but one that is also competitively priced," suggested Steve Johnson, head of Sainsbury's Travel Insurance.
Meanwhile, those wanting to go online and book a break might be tempted by some discount offers available in the Daily Mail.
It is currently advertising a two-for-one city break for selected times and destinations including Eurostar travel during January and February. More details can be found on the website.
