Tips for "savvy shoppers"
More than eight out of ten shoppers say they look for sales, deals, money-off vouchers and discount codes, according to a new survey by PayPal.
But what are the best ways to be a "savvy shopper" and save money while buying Christmas presents and festive items?
According to the online payments company, the top tip is to firstly make a list of everything you actually need to buy, to avoid getting distracted by items you do not.
Setting a budget can also be effective, because it allows people to feel more in control of their finances.
Researching may help prior to purchasing, PayPal added. Checking prices when you shop online and comparing different products often ensures you get the best price for the right item.
The company also particularly recommended that people shop online, because internet-based retailers can offer better bargains.
And finally, PayPal said consumers should keep their eyes peeled this Christmas for early discounts and cash back offers.
"Many of the best deals can be found online," said Cristina Hoole, the group's shopping expert. "It's encouraging to see people get smarter about shopping and use money-saving tips."
According to myvouchercodes.co.uk, Dorothy Perkins has already launched its winter online sale, while John Lewis is scheduled to begin on Boxing Day.
