After indulging at Christmas, may people decide to detox during January and February, an expert has claimed.

Karen Horn, who works as a colonic hydrotherapist, said treatments such as this are very popular at new year because of the amount that is eaten and drunk over the festive season.

In addition to diet and exercise, people choose colonic hydrotherapy to help them detox and maintain a healthy bowel, Ms Horn said.

"Colonic hydrotherapy is really good when you are detoxing because the bowel gets rid of all the waste," she explained.

"January and February get very busy because people go mad at Christmas and overindulge."

She also said that maintaining a healthy diet is important for making the colon work effectively.

Books and products to help with this process may be an excellent investment and many retailers often discount this type of item to encourage buying.
