Apple has announced the release of a new 2GB version of its popular iPod shuffle music player to compliment its current 1GB model, it has emerged.
In addition, the recommended retail price of the original 1GB iPod shuffle has been reduced to £35, which technology blog Crave calls "stonking value" for the trendy and tiny music player.
Meanwhile the new 2GB version of the iPod shuffle will be sold for a recommended price of £49 in the UK.
"The new 2GB model lets music lovers bring even more songs everywhere they go in the impossibly small iPod shuffle," said Greg Joswiak, vice-president of worldwide iPod product marketing at Apple.
Macworld reports that the new music player will be available to UK consumers later this month.
The news follows an announcement by Apple earlier this year that a new 32GB iPod touch and a 16GB iPhone will soon be available in the UK.
