The George clothing brand is set to be overhauled as the Asda range aims to become the number one supermarket clothing provider by the end of the year, Talking Retail has reported.
The supermarket retailer, which also has a number of high street stores across the UK, is changing its strategy to increase the popularity of the George line, which also hopes to be the leading clothing retailer by volume in the UK by 2012.
Fiona Lambert, brand director at George who formerly worked for Next, claimed the George label is refocusing to meet the needs of its "core customers" - family shoppers between the ages of 25 and 45.
She explained this group often seeks lower prices than those found at Marks & Spencer or Next, but with a higher quality of goods than though found at low-priced retailer Primark.
Meanwhile, the retailer claimed there are also plans to launch a standalone website for George products that is separate from the Asda site.
According to the Mirror, George clothing may soon be made available in George Living stores, alongside kettles and sofas.
