Supermarket retailer Asda has claimed it is now offering Britain's cheapest pay as you go mobile phone deal, with four handsets available for £5.
According to Peter Pritchard, trading director at the firm, handsets manufactured by Nokia and Sagem are available through the deal, which he claims "is likely to get the best reception yet".
He added that a number of shoppers prefer to use pay as you go handsets because they help them monitor their spending.
Mr Pritchard also explained that the Asda offer does not have any hidden extras like some other high street retailers, who sometimes require pay as you go customers to purchase a certain amount of credit when they buy their handset.
Meanwhile, in other Asda news, the supermarket retailer is though to be getting ready to launch a 1,000-page print catalogue similar to one on offer from Tesco Direct.
PrintWeek.com reported that the firm is set to feature 10,000 non-food products in the new catalogue, which will be available in September.
