A new limited edition IXUS 980 IS compact camera is being launched by Canon.
The camera manufacturer will introduce the gadget to celebrate selling 100 million compact cameras worldwide.
Just 6,000 of the limited edition cameras will make it onto the European market.
The new limited edition IXUS 980 IS boasts a 3.7x optical zoom, a 14.7-megapixel sensor and the camera has built-in image stabalisation technology.
Canon's new IXUS, which will be available in silver and gold, will be the first compact to have manual shutter speed and aperture settings.
Available at the end of September, the camera will cost £349.99 and Canon claims the gadget offers more than just good looks.
In other news, Canon's Philip Brady, country manager with Canon Ireland, told the Irish Times: "There is still huge demand for digital SLRs; there is double-digit growth in that product right up to August and I can't see that tailing off for the moment."
