Socially-conscious Valentine's Day shoppers may wish to consider purchasing gifts that support charities, a news network has asserted.
According to a Fox Business report, a popular gift for this Valentine's Day may include a special-edition (Product) RED iPod nano to support the fight against Aids in Africa or a pink-coloured kitchen appliance, such as a blender or food processor, to support breast cancer research.
Designer Ralph Lauren's Pink Pony line donates ten per cent of all its proceeds to fund cancer research, while clothing chain H&M has developed a charity fashion line fronted by Good Charlotte and Rihanna which is designed to spread international awareness about HIV and Aids.
Some 25 per cent of all proceeds from the H&M celebrity line - which also features designs from Timbaland and Ziggy Marley - will be donated to a number of Aids prevention project from around the world.
Fox Business also suggested that animal lovers may wish to adopt an endangered animal, such as a polar bear, penguin or moose for their valentines this year.
