With 36 per cent of British web users stating they buy clothes online - a 40 per cent increase in the past two years - fashion e-tail has been marked as one of the largest online sales growth areas, the Observer has reported.
Lorna Hall, executive editor of retail publication Drapers, claimed that Britons are keen to embrace online shopping as it is similar to mail-order shopping.
"The largest clothing retail online market share in the UK is Next," she said. "That's directory business which has migrated to the internet."
In addition, a survey conducted by Nielsen Media Research found eBay to be the top online fashion destination, although Marie Claire magazine reported that high-end and designer boutiques are also expected to grow in popularity with online shoppers as they feature brands that are less accessible outside major cities.
The magazine claimed My-Wardrobe.com has experienced a 143 per cent sales growth in the past year.
