As HMV moves towards its upcoming Next Generation store roll-out in the coming months, it is set to expand its range of music-playing mobile phones.
According to mobiletoday.co.uk, Gennaro Castaldo, a spokesman at the high street store, stated that mobile phones will be a key technological area which will be further developed in the so-called Next Generation rebranding of many of its stores.
"We've had so much interest in the music mobile area and are expanding our range," he stated.
"It has engaged with our customers and we feel that it's an opportunity to build on."
Earlier this week, it emerged that several of the rebranded HMV stores currently being trialled around the country have seen an increase in sales since they adopted the Next Generation format.
The Independent reported at the weekend that sales of video games also helped to boost sales at the high street retailer.
