IFA features 3D photocopier

Amongst the cutting edge technology on display at this year's IFA in Berlin will be Toshiba's new 3D photocopier.

Toshiba's new imaging technology allows digital photographs to be stitched together to form a complete three dimensional model of the item being photographed.

Users can then view the copied item from any angle on their computer screen.

Toshiba's 3D photocopier is part of an ongoing research programme between Toshiba Research Europe and the Cambridge Research Laboratory.

As well as the modelling software, the pair have been working on software that can track 3D objects in real-time and record bends and wrinkles in materials.

Sustainable technologies from Toshiba will also be on display at the IFA 2008, which make up part of the firm's Environmental Vision 2050.

The company is aiming to cut its carbon emissions by 118 million tonnes a year by 2025.

Among the eco-friendly products on display at the Berlin technology fare will be the latest LCD technology and a battery that can be recharged in less than five minutes.
