Microsoft has confirmed that prices will be slashed on its Xbox 360 consoles in the UK and Europe this Friday, Digital Spy has reported.
Citing an interview with MCV, the news site claimed the price of the top-range Xbox 360 Elite will see is £299.99 recommended retail price slashed by £40, while the price of the Xbox 360 Pro will drop from £249.99 to £199.99.
Meanwhile, the entry-level Xbox 360 Arcade will now cost £159.99, rather than £199.99 - a move which Chris Lewis, vice-president of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Europe, claimed will "widen the net even further" to encourage more people to take up gaming.
"Through this price point, we can reach and introduce a much broader array of consumers to hi-def gaming," he said.
Meanwhile, it was reported earlier this week that Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer stated the software company is looking into ways in which Blu-ray technology can be incorporated into Microsoft products.
The Xbox 360 is available at a number of UK retailers, including HMV and Game.
