The scheme will be operated by Loyalty Management UK and open to the 50 per cent of British households which have their own Nectar cards.
Warner Music Group, EMI and Sony BMG and independent label the Orchard will be providing the music for the service.
Until October 31st customers will be able to redeem their points as part of a special offer, gaining 20 songs for 3,000 points.
After the offer has closed, bundles of tracks will be able to be purchased, with blocks costing 5,500, 7,200 and 8,900 points for 30, 40 and 50 tracks respectively.
Points are topped up on the reward cards when users shop in a variety of different retailers including Sainsbury's and BP petrol stations.
Different numbers of points can be collected depending where the card is used.
