Specifications for Canon's new EOS camera were accidently leaked on the company's Chinese website.
Rumoured to be the replacement for Canon's 40D, the new EOS 50D is the company's latest DSLR offering.
Details of the new camera were leaked, supposedly accidentally, on the firm's Chinese web portal and subsequently made it onto many digital photography websites, despite efforts by Canon to quickly remove the offending documents which outlined the specification for its new device.
The EOS 50D will be a 15.1-megapixel DSLR camera capable of shooting up to 6.3 frames per second.
It will be able to store images in uncompressed RAW format and will have a 920,000-pixel two-inch screen.
Canon has made its way successfully back into the budget SLR market with its 10.1-megapixel EOS 1000D, which was just given five-stars by Stuff.tv.
The gadget reviews site said that despite tough competition Canon was once again at the top of the budget DSLR pile.
