Apple has unveiled the latest additions to its laptop family.
The MacBook and MacBook Pro are carved from a single block of aluminium using high-powered water jets and lasers and the company claims they are more environmentally friendly, thinner and tougher.
Apple's latest laptops are the first to have LED backlit screen, which the company claims is 30 per cent more efficient than previous models, and the devices will now be powered by Nvidia's GeForce chipset.
The laptops also have a bigger trackpad, which uses the firms multi-touch technology.
Apple's MacBook comes with a choice of two processors, the Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 or 2.4GHz, and either a 160GB or 250GB hard drive.
Prices start from £949.
Meanwhile the pro version comes with two integrated graphics chips for improved performance and prices start at £1,299.
In related news, Apple has decided not to enter the netbook market, reports the Times.
Apple founder Steve Jobs said: "We've certainly experimented with it, as you might imagine, and it currently doesn't make a lot of sense to us."
