A new version of the Nintendo DS may be announced at a three-day media summit in Los Angeles this summer, it has been suggested.
Digital Spy reported this week that Hirokazu Hamamura - the president of Enterbrain, which owns Japanese gaming magazine Farnitsu - thinks the gaming firm may be gearing up for a major announcement in mid-July.
"Nintendo might be readying to show off the third iteration of its handheld system later this year during the E3 Media and Business Summit," he speculated.
Rumours are swirling that the firm is planning a number of announcements for the three-day summit, which is set to take place between July 15th and 17th, particularly as Nintendo boss Reggie Fils-Aime has previously hinted at "fantastic" new developments from the company.
In related news, Nintendo's Mario Kart Wii debuted at number one on the UK all-formats games chart.
The game can be purchased at a number of retailers, including HMV, Amazon and Game.
