Sony has added to its NR Series of entry-level Vaio laptops - once renowned for their high specs - with the budget NR31J/S.
Coming in at under £500, the new Vaio attempts to strike a compromise between stylish design and affordable computing.
The NR31J/S weighs in at 2.9kg and reviewers have claimed it is a viable alternative to a desktop PC but lacks the portability and battery life, at just two hours, of other laptops in its price range.
And according to techradar.com, the smaller price tag has resulted in Sony cutting back on processor power, with the company opting for Intel's Dual Core T2390.
"You won't ?nd anything out of the ordinary ?tted" in Sony's latest Vaio, according to the technology reviews website, which added it is lacking in performance "and the rather awkward keyboard makes it less than an ideal choice".
Claiming that its NR series is simple, casual and smart, Sony said the new Vaio combines "value with quality and reliability".
