Fast food chain McDonald's has dodged the credit crunch as it announces the creation of 4,000 new jobs.
The burger restaurant has launched a campaign to recruit 4,000 new staff in the UK to cope with a big increase in sales as cash-strapped Brits flock to the golden arches for their fast food fix.
It claims to have sold an extra two million meals every month compared with last year's figures.
McDonald's is also increasing the amount it spends on refurbishing its stores in an attempt to keep packing in customers.
Steve Easterbrook, chief executive of McDonald's in the UK, said: "I believe there's a new reality."
"Families still want to eat out but clearly they have a less money in their pockets and are searching for value," he added.
McDonald's opened its first store in the UK in 1974 and the chain has more than 2.5 million customers a day.
