Post Office says skiers 'should read the fine print'

Skiers and snowboarders who plan to venture off piste during their next holiday have been advised to check the fine print on their travel insurance policy by Post Office.

The insurance provider, which offers a hot deal of ten per cent off of multi-trip travel insurance policies purchased online, as well as a £50 cashback deal on its car insurance policies, warned consumers that travel insurance policies usually only cover accidents and injuries suffered off-piste if the skier is in the presence of a qualified guide or instructor.

And with Nationwide Building Society reporting that 1.3 million Brits who enjoyed a skiing or snowboarding holiday last winter, it is important for consumers to double-check their travel insurance cover before they hit the slopes.

Last month, the Foreign Office issued a warning to UK skiers who take part in high-risk activities on the slopes without making adequate preparations and with a reported high risk of avalanches this season, Helen Warburton, head of travel services at Post Office said it is important for travellers to take extra precautions before they travel.

"Be fully prepared for every eventuality on your mountain adventure," she said.ADNFCR-1399-ID-18476614-ADNFCR
