Microsoft's Xbox 360 Pro is to be reduced in price from $349 (£176) to $299, those looking for bargain code deals may be interested to know.
Citing a source familiar with matter, Reuters reports the company plans to reduce the price of the console with a 20GB hard drive this weekend.
However, a spokeswoman for Microsoft has told the news provider the company has nothing to announce at present.
The reduction, which follows a cut in the game console's price last August from $399 to $349, comes ahead of the video game industry's largest trade show, E3, which takes place in Los Angeles next week.
A reduction to $299 will see the console priced $100 below Sony's PlayStation, which has a 40 gigabyte hard drive.
Meanwhile, Sony has confirmed it has no intention of reducing the price of the PlayStation 3.
The company's chief financial officer Nobuyuki Oneda said today at a forum in Singapore: "Our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability ... Our plan is not to reduce the price."
