Dance DJ Sonique has developed breast cancer and will now have to undergo five months of chemotherapy treatment in order to rid herself of the disease.
She has already had an operation to remove the malignant tumour, which a spokesperson said was "successful", although not all traces of the disease were removed.
The club star, who had a number one single with It Feels So Good and once held a permanent residency at Ibiza night Manumission, was diagnosed with cancer two weeks ago and underwent the operation immediately.
Stuart Watts, agent to Sonique, said: "She's comfortable and the second operation was successful. She's very tired but considering what she's been through she's in quite good spirits."
She intends to play all future tour dates.
Sonique beat other famous artists such as Dido, Jamelia, PJ Harvey and Sade at the Brit Awards in 2001 after winning the category of Best British Female Solo Artist.
