Sony has officially revealed its latest digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera.
The A900, which will be available next month, is the world's first DSLR camera to boast a 24.6-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor.
Sony's latest digital camera offering also comes with its patented SteadyShot technology to reduce the unwanted effects of camera shake.
The device also sports a three-inch LCD screen, can read and write RAW format images and can be coupled to a high definition television.
Gadgetell.com claims Sony started taking pre-orders for the new camera, which costs $3,000 (£1,700) and can take five pictures a second, today (September 10th).
Last year Canon claimed it had produced the world's first 50-megapixel CMOS camera sensor, reports engadget.com.
The tech-news website said Canon was aiming the device, which it claimed was twice as powerful as anything else on the market, at the commercial sector, but said the sensor was small enough to fit in a standard DSLR camera.
