News > 'Upper echelons of compact market for Pentax'

The Pentax Optio S12 has reached the upper echelons of the compact digital camera market, according to one reviewer.
Danny Palmerlee from PC Advisor claims that with a 12-megapixel sensor and a maximum resolution of 4,000 by 1,200 the camera is thin, durable, easy to use and a "solid competitor".
It comes with a 3x optical zoom, 6x digital zoom and weighs 150g.
"If you're looking for a sturdy, toss-it-in-your-pocket camera that takes good (though not stellar) pictures, the Pentax Optio S12 is a solid value ," says Mr Palmerlee.
It is not suitable for people wanting lots of specialised functions and buttons, but the reviewer claims the intuitive, streamlined interface allows snappers to concentrate on taking photos.
Meanwhile, Pentax recently showed off its Km DSLR camera, an entry level camera with changeable lenses.
Sporting an image stabalised 10-megapixel sensor, the device is capable of taking 3.5 pictures a second.
