Consumers searching for new technical goods should look at more than just the specification, according to a source.
PC World has produced a list of tips for shoppers to follow in order to ensure they purchase the correct equipment for their needs.
The computer magazine advises customers to come prepared with a list of features they want from their goods, which applies to products such as computers, laptops and digital cameras.
Shoppers should be wary regarding claims about battery life, RAM and processor speed when buying a new laptop, the magazine's website claims.
Meanwhile, the article states those interested in a digital camera should look at more than just the amount of megapixels it features.
Resolution is marked as a key factor in high-definition television purchases, while the website claims contrast ratio "enjoys way too much prominence" in decisions on which set to buy.
Meanwhile, Tom Smith, of Standard and Poor's Equity Research, has claimed it is "surprising that PC sales have held up" during the current economic climate, reports Business Week.
