A new mouse with built-in motion sensors which can be operated at the flick of a wrist will go on sale in the UK next month.
The Gyration Air Mouse, which has intelligent MotionSense technology similar to that used in the Nintendo Wii remote, "delivers precise in-air cursor control", the company claims.
With an in-built USB dongle the mouse can be operated 100-feet away from the computer it is being used to control and will even work through walls.
It is primarily aimed at office workers and businesses and comes bundled with GyroTools, which can be used to configure the device to deal with multi-media presentations.
Greg Smith, vice-president for marketing at Movea, which developed the software, said the Air Mouse provides "mobile workers and entertainment buffs the freedom to control their PCs whether they're at home or on the road".
In related news, the company recently unveiled a new television, home cinema and hi-fi remote equipped with the same motion-sensing technology, which it claims eliminates the need for a mouse.
