A 60GB version of the Xbox 360 hits UK stores on Friday replacing the existing 20GB version, according to Trusted Reviews.
The new version will cost £199 the same as the 20GB version and offers triple the amount of storage space for gamers.
According to the Register, Microsoft will reduce the price of its 20GB Xbox 360s to around £150, but the price of the company's entry-level Arcade and 120 GB Elite consoles will stay the same price.
Senior regional director of the Entertainment and Devices Division Neil Thompson said: "No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver."
"Now the Xbox 360 has triple the space to house all your entertainment needs at no extra cost," he added.
To combat the move by Microsoft, Sony has announced the introduction of an 80GB PS3 for the same price as its 40GB version (£299).
