Apple's iPhone has inspired a number of new mobile phone designs showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, a blogger has observed.
According to Keith Shaw of Network World, a number of new mobile phones - including the Xperia X1 from Sony Ericsson and Microsoft, as well as other touch-screen models from Samsung and Sony Ericcson - are set to be released in Europe this year.
Features such as advanced web connectivity - including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi - digital cameras, mp3 players and FM radios are also becoming more popular in mobile phones, while Mr Shaw claimed that manufacturers such as Sony Ericsson may bring touch-screen mobiles into the mainstream this year.
The company's iPhone-inspired G700 and G900 models are expected to be available in selected markets in the second quarter of 2008.
Recently, a survey from PayPal found that both the iPod and the iPhone are among the top gadgets to be given to loved ones this Valentine's Day.
