When we look to the future, the impact of inflation is often overlooked, but it can have a massive effect on everything from daily items to bigger purchases
With rare exceptions, prices will always go up throughout the years (with the Freddo chocolate bar being the classic example!).
So, how will the prices of everyday goods and services look in the year 2040, when today's new-borns hit the age of 21? That’s what we’ve attempted to estimate by looking at how prices have changed between 1996 and 2018, applying the same rate of change going forward.
