Airport parking can be a nasty hidden cost that we forget to take into account when booking a holiday, but who in the world pays the most?
We looked into the cost of a one week stay at the official car parks of the world’s 100 busiest airports (without prior booking) and found that three of the top five most expensive were found in the UK, specifically, in London.
London Heathrow was the most expensive, where you’ll pay just under £190 for a week, whereas in places such as Bangkok or Düsseldorf, you’ll pay over eight times less than this for the same period of time!
Overall, the average cost for a week’s parking at airports around the world came out at £72.80.
To calculate the above rankings, we obtained the cost of parking for a week at each one of the world’s 100 busiest airports, based upon passenger traffic (source).
The prices obtained were based upon parking for one week, without prior booking, at each airport’s official car park. In the event that the airport did not have an official airport-owned car park, we utilised the data for the one which they endorse and recommend.
Prices were collected in the local currency for each airport and converted to GBP (£), USD ($) and EUR (€) using xe.com on 16th July 2018.
