Marshmallow snowmen on a plate, which is a festive snack idea

Tis the season to be jolly and eat lots of delicious treats. If you are planning on having a little get together or want to make something for the Christmas period, here are a few great festive snack ideas to try out.

Marshmallow Snowmen

This one is pretty simple but makes quite an impact!

You will need;

  • Candy canes
  • Marshmallows (large as possible)
  • Black icing
  • M&Ms
  • Strawberry laces

Snap off the top of the candy cane so it is only straight. Put three of the marshmallows onto the candy cane one after the other.  Make two dots on the top marshmallow for the eyes. Cut a little slit into the top marshmallow for a nose. Make sure the cut is big enough to put an M&M into. To make a scarf, wrap a strawberry lace or two around the candy cane under the top marshmallow.

Ham & Cheese Christmas Crackers

This one is really effective and it doesn’t need many ingredients!

You will need;

  • Round crackers (something like Ritz would be ideal)
  • Thinly sliced ham
  • Cheddar cheese slices

Cut you ham into circles so they fit on the cracker. Once doing this, cut shapes into the slices of cheese to fit on top. You could use festive cookie cutters or try and do it yourself! Shapes like stars, gingerbread men, snowflakes and other festive things! Once these are done, place this on top of the cracker covered in ham.

Christmas Pudding Teacakes

A teacake is one of those British institutions with a marshmallow on top with meringue and shortbread. It can be incredibly sweet so doesn’t need much added to it. However, there is a way to make it a lot more festive!

You will need;

  • A box of Tunnocks Teacakes
  • White roll out icing
  • Green roll out icing
  • Red roll out icing

Simply roll our your white icing to make a splash shape for each tea cake. When this is done, make the shape for some holly pieces in the green icing. Add two red little dots of icing to make the berries on the sprigs of holly. Place the holly onto the white icing and then put one of these onto ever teacake. These are now looking like little Christmas puddings!

Melted Snowmen Biscuits

This one is pretty fun. The idea is to make the biscuit look like the snowman has melted into a puddle.

You will need;

  • Marshamllows
  • Biscuits – Rich Tea would work well
  • Icing pens
  • White Royal icing

You can be quite creative with this one. Pour white royal icing to make a puddle on each biscuit. Whilst the icing is still wet, put a marshmallow on top to make the head. Wait for the icing to set slightly then whip out your icing pens. Create a face on the marshmallow and add the arms onto the biscuit. You could also add a scarf or the buttons to make it really realistic!

And there we have it! Some delicious festive snack ideas to keep you occupied over the festive period. All of these are great for a party spread and to add to your Christmas meal!
