Stuck on things to keep you entertained over summer? It can be hard trying to pick things to keep you entertained and occupied without it costing a fortune. If you are on a budget then it can be difficult but don’t worry – there is a lot for you to do!
Not every day in summer is going to be sunny. If it gets a little rainy or grey then the perfect place for a day out is a museum. Thankfully, nearly every museum in London is free. As long as you don’t want to go and see a special exhibition (as they can cost around £18 for entry) you will be able to check out some great museums and galleries. A top tip is heading to Kensington where you can explore the V&A, The Natural History Museum and The Science Museum are all within walking distance.
London has some of the most beautiful parks to wander through. Grab some food for a picnic and take in the view. Head to Hampstead Heath has a great view of the London skyline as well as the park by Alexandra Palace and Primrose Hill. Richmond Park is full of wildlife like deer which makes for a really interesting walk. Other places to explore could be Hyde Park, St James’s Park, Clapham Common, Green Park, Battersea Park, Victoria Park and London Fields. Why not grab a Santander Cycle for £2 and ride through one of these parks?
What else does London do really well? Markets! Wander through some institutions to see the real heart of London. Broadway Market is a great idea if you want to chill by London Fields too. Borough Market is great for picking up free samples and trying out some glorious food whilst you do! If you want a slice of the East End then head to Columbia Road Market. Walk past an array of beautiful flowers from traders that have been there for years. It is an institution that is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

It is open to everyone, with one day set up specifically for families so the events and parade might be slightly altered. It is a great day out and a must for anyone in London at the end of August!
