Hey! I'm Josh and I started working at MyVoucherCodes in March 2023. Prior to this, I studied at Cardiff Metropolitan University where I completed a Master's degree in Specialist Journalism, I also completed a Bachelor's degree in History at Liverpool John Moores University. My interest in history ultimately rekindled my love of writing, which largely stems from the aspect of deducing motive and subtext from both historical sources and contexts. However, this fascination with critical thinking has now expanded beyond that of the historical, it now pervades many aspects of my interests from the film, video games, and technical fashion to larger societal issues and the efforts being made to combat them through technological advancements. It is my desire to produce media discussing these topics at length and apply critical analysis to them.
When I'm not working, I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching films, and playing games. I'm particularly interested in Welsh history and sci-fi and fantasy genres. I also love attending Europe's biggest gaming convention in Cologne every year and e-skating during the warmer months.
What's the best saving I've made?
My most recent best saving I've made was at Flannels where I picked up a Nemen Italia jacket at a massively discounted price. Being a student at the time I was always on the lookout for deals which is still engrained into my spending habits now, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the luxury jacket that once sold for an eye-watering £550 down to a much more affordable £150 in a Flannels clearance sale which I managed to knock a few quid off using a discount code. The jacket is now a staple in my wardrobe in no small part because I love to tell people how much I saved on it.
My Favourite Retailers
Uniqlo is a mainstay of my wardrobe and as such it's only fitting I include it here. From their Heattech (which I'm wearing as I write this bio from my cold office) and Airism garments to the UT graphic collection where I've found some of my favourite pop-culture shirts. Uniqlo stocks high-quality basics for any occasion making them a first port of call when I'm clothes shopping. Outside of the quality the main appeal of Uniqlo for me is that they offer high quality and functional clothing at an affordable price with their many clearance sales throughout the year, you're always likely to be able to pick something up at a bargain.
Outside of my love for functional high quality clothing. I'm also an avid gamer which means I spend a lot of time at my PC, and by virtue means, I spend a lot of money on peripherals, components and accessories. Luckily I always manage to soften the blow by shopping at one of my favourite tech retailers Curry's who always offer me the best price either through a discount code, price comparison or payment plan. In fact, I plan on buying a new Logitech G G502 Plus from Curry's to replace my old Razer DeathAdder soon.
I need to shout out ZAVVI here as someone who is obviously a massive gaming and film nerd, I find myself constantly 'decorating' my home office with all kinds of memorabilia from figurines, posters and collector's items, which I'm sure many of you know can be a costly spending habit but I've found ZAVVI always has the best deals on these items which as saved my bank account more than once.
