  • Data reveals Brits need to save £37.80 per week over 10 weeks to hit the average £377.98 Christmas gift target.
  • Shopping expert recommend an accelerated 8-week plan (£47.25/week) to take advantage of Black Friday discounts and avoid shipping delays.
  • Swapping takeaways or daily coffees per week could be enough to cover the entire Christmas gift budget.

At the end of 2025, top voucher site, MyVoucherCodes commissioned a One Poll* survey that revealed Brits planned on spending £377.98 on Christmas gifts. With exactly 10 weeks remaining until Christmas, MyVoucherCodes highlights how small weekly habit tweaks can relieve some of the festive financial strain.

Based on 2025 spending, shoppers can reach their gifting target without getting into debt by saving £37.80 per week, starting now. However, MyVoucherCodes shopping and lifestyle expert Sarah-Jane Outten has spoken about an accelerated 8-week plan that leaves more time before Christmas to take advantage of festive deals and allow for home delivery.

Sarah-Jane said, “If it’s possible, aim for £47.25 per week starting now. This 8-week plan means you aren’t shopping last minute, and it gives you more time to shop online, where many of the best deals are found. Small changes to your weekly spending now could make all the difference. Take lunches to work, ditch the expensive coffee and forfeit the weekly takeaway”

A SUMMARY OF THE TWO FESTIVE SAVING PLANS YOU CAN START TODAY

1. The 10-Week Steady Saver (£37.80 / week)

Spreading the cost across the entire 10-week countdown requires setting aside £37.80 every week (or £5.40 per day). This option minimises weekly impact on household budgets, making it ideal for those managing tight monthly cash flow.

2. The 8-Week Smart Shopper (£47.25 / week)

Finishing the savings goal two weeks early, by late November, requires saving £47.25 per week (or £6.75 per day). This timeline allows more time to shop, an opportunity to take advantage of festive deals and allows time for online orders to be delivered.

Sarah-Jane goes on to say,

“The amounts suggested are just a guide to match what last year's Christmas spending budgets looked like. The cost of living is an ongoing issue for so many people in the UK, and for some, this year may be more challenging. Thinking about Christmas shopping now means less stress later in the year. Even if your budget is far smaller, putting a weekly amount away now can help. Whatever your situation, it’s important to avoid starting 2027 in debt.”

Here are Sarah-Janes top three fast ways to cut at least £37.80 from your weekly budget:

  • The Coffee & Lunch Swap: Bringing lunch from home twice a week saves approx. £15–£20 weekly.
  • Subscription Audit: Pausing two unused streaming or app subscriptions potentially frees up £20+ per month instantly.
  • Switch to Supermarket Own-Brands: Swapping premium branded grocery items for store brands cuts an average of 15–20% off the weekly food bill.
