Calling all hot chocolate lovers – Tesco has officially launched its new hot chocolate flakes, perfect for making a luxury hot chocolate at home.

It’s no secret that I love a hot chocolate myself. Previously, I’ve spoken about the All-New Velvetiser upgrade and the much-anticipated return of the Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate advent calendar. And this might just be the next best thing.

If, like me, you love getting more for your money, then you’ll be thrilled to know that the new range of Tesco Finest Belgian chocolate flakes might be a more affordable way to get your luxury hot chocolate fix.

For just £5.75 each, you’ll get a choice of four exciting options of their Belgian chocolate flakes. Flavours include 45% Milk, salted caramel & white chocolate, black forest, and 70% dark chocolate.

Like the Hotel Chocolat drinking chocolate, the Tesco alternative can be melted into hot milk for a smooth and rich hot chocolate. And yes – that does mean that you’ll likely be able to use them in your Velvetiser if you have one.

If you don’t have a Velvetiser, worry not. Tesco advises that the best way to use your chocolate flakes is to add 4 tablespoons to a mug, add a small amount of hot milk, and mix into a paste. Then add approx 200ml of warm milk and stir until smooth.

So, whether or not the Tesco Finest Belgian chocolate flakes are a good alternative to the more premium Hotel Chocolat drinking chocolate, they’re a good one to try if you’re looking for a more affordable option.

We anticipate that these will be popular, especially amongst those who regularly shop at Tesco. So, you might not want to wait around if you'd like to get your hands on some.

When I’m not writing about saving money on homely purchases, I’m either sitting with my head in a new book, painting a piece of art for my walls, or binge-watching an interior design programme on Netflix. I love to get inspiration and transform my space, usually with the help of a few Pinterest boards and a couple of tins of paint.
