Safest Countries to Visit in Europe in 2020

Travel in 2020 is a very different experience compared to years gone by. Coronavirus has had a big impact on where we can go, and our adventures when we get there. That doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of your holiday this Summer. So, we thought we’d have a look at some of the safest countries to visit in 2020.

While some countries are experiencing second waves, other countries have managed to do a pretty good job of staving off the Coronavirus. Not to mention, they’ve taken measures to ensure travellers get the relaxation they’re looking for, without compromising on safety in these strange times.

Greece

Greece is the place to be for those after a holiday that offers sunshine, relaxation, culture and adventure. With beautiful sandy stretches, and world-famous landmarks on tap, it really is a bucket-list destination. And thanks to their quick response to the Coronavirus outbreak, Greece have managed to control the virus. As a result, Greece is one of the safest countries to visit in 2020.

Corfu

A stunning island off the Northwest coast of Greece, Corfu is packed with incredible mountains and beautiful coastlines. There really is adventure and relaxation in spades. 

With gorgeous sights to see like the fishing village of Agni Bay, Cape Drastis and the Canal d’Amour, Corfu is easy on the eyes. Not to mention the food is delightful, so you can see the sights in the day, and settle in for a marvellous meal in the evening.

Preveza

Preveza is a region in which you can find culture, sunshine and stunning seafood. There are incredible landmarks like the Nicropolis, St. George’s Castle and the ancient city of Cassope to visit, so culture vultures will not be disappointed with their visit.

Romania

With stunning architecture, incredible natural parks and culture-packed cities, you can’t go wrong with city breaks in Romania. It’s one of the safest countries to visit in 2020. It’s also one of the least affected countries in Europe by the Coronavirus.

Sibiu

A beautiful area that’s known for its history, culture, gothic architecture and fabulous food, it’s a top choice for city breaks. It’s especially popular in December thanks to the presence of its Christmas markets, but it’s a cracking year-round destination too.

With the Sibiu Lutheran Cathedral, medieval fortified towers, and the Passage of the Stairs, the architecture is where the city really shines. It’s also near the Făgăraș Mountains, so adventurers will be happy too. 

Cluj-Napoca

While we might typically associate the region of Transylvania with vampires and monsters, it’s home to some of the most beautiful areas in Romania. Among them is Cluj Napoca, a city that’s one of the most important cultural hotspots in Romania.

Some of the sights on offer include Bánffy Castle, the Botanical Garden and the gothic architecture of St. Michael’s Church. There’s plenty of museums, galleries and theatres, so it’s an ideal destination for a city break for fans of the arts. It’s also got a rich and interesting history, so you can get your culture fill.

Croatia

Croatia is a destination that’s been on the rise for a few years now. Especially after Dubrovnik played such a major role in the filming of Game of Thrones, with it being the real-life counterpart of King’s Landing. And thanks to the speedy response to the Coronavirus outbreak, Croatia is one of the safest countries to visit in 2020.

Cavtat

Cavtat is 20 kilometres away from Dubrovnik, and as a result, you can get a similar experience when it comes to the sights, with less of the hustle and bustle. That makes it an ideal place to visit when you’re trying to socially distance. It’s also 22 kilometres away from Montenegro, which is perfect for renting a car and hitting the road.

Zagreb

Georgia

Tbilisi
