Your time as a student is exciting and a part of life you will never forget. But the only downside is keeping to a tight budget. Some student discounts are well known, but there's a ton you may not know about. What are they? Search no more, we have curated a list of the best.

McDonald's - If a McDonald’s hit’s the spot after a night out, enjoy a free Cheeseburger, Chicken Mayo or McFlurry when you buy any extra value or wrap meal. You will need to be a Student Beans member to get your freebie. 

Bella Italia - Who doesn’t love pasta and pizza for dinner? If you visit Bella Italia from Sunday to Thursday, you can get 30% off your bill. Simply show your student ID to get your discount. 

Brew Dogs - Study breaks just got better with the range of student offers that are available at Brew Dogs. Offers include a free birthday cake when booking a birthday get-together, burger and pint deals and 2-for-1 at beer schools.  Just remember to bring along your student ID when you visit. 

Cafe Rouge - Ooo la-la, this is a good deal! At Cafe Rouge, you can get 30% off all food from Sunday to Wednesday. If you would like to say Bonjour to this discount, you will need to have a Unidays membership. 

Chiquito -  You and an amigo can enjoy 25% off your food bill at Chiquito when ordering 2 mains. To access this discount, you will need a student discount code that you can get from Unidays or Student Beans. 

Frankie and Bennys - You and up to 5 friends can take a break from revising and enjoy 20% off your total food bill at Frankie and Bennys. If you’re up and about early enough, you can even use this discount on breakfast. You will need to take along your student ID to get this discount. 

Greggs - Is there anything more comforting than baked goods from Greggs? Free baked goods! When you buy a sandwich deal, you can bag yourself a free savoury with the Greggs Student Exclusive Deal. Just show your student ID or Student Beans membership when paying. 

KFC - Did someone say FREE fried chicken? Yes, we did! KFC is offering a free popcorn chicken snack bucket when you spend £3 in a single transaction. You will need to be a Student Beans member to get your freebie. 

Krispy Kreme - You’d be a complete doughnut to miss this one! See what we did there…doughnut? Anyway, you can get a scrumptious 10% off with your student ID at Krispy Kreme - sweet! 

Nandos - Fancy a cheeky Nandos? Just create a Nandos account with your student email to get a spicy 20% off. Your butterfly chicken just got tastier! 

Yo Sushi! - Have a hankering for some top-tier sushi? Can't stop dreaming of those Maki rolls you had last time? Well, great news! at Yo Sushi! Students can save a whopping 20% on dine-in and click & collect orders.

Domino's - Students can enjoy a 35% discount at Domino’s, which is a hefty 'slice' out of the price. You can get your discount code with a free UNiDAYS or Student Beans account.

Muscle Food - Meat lovers won’t want to miss 10% off at Muscle Food. Stock up on protein packs and more. You need a Student Beans, Unidays or TOTUM membership to enjoy this saving. 

Hello Fresh - If meal planning isn’t your thing, you might want to consider Hello Fresh. Students can get 55% off their first box and an ongoing 15% off for 12 months. You will need to be a Unidays member to snap up this deal.

Spotify - Enjoy a library of music and podcasts for less with the Premium Student subscription at Spotify. Instead of the usual fee of £9.99, students can enjoy Spotify for £5.99. You will need to sign up with your university email address to get this special price. 

Apple Music - Apple fans will love the discount available for students at Apple Music. In addition to one month free you can enjoy all your favourite tunes for £5.99 per month. This subscription price can only be activated with a Uni or college email address. You will also get access to Apple TV for free too!

Amazon Prime - Prime Student benefits include access to Amazon Music, Video, delivery and deals. Enjoy a 6-month free trial followed by a half-price monthly subscription - bargain! Make sure you have your Uni email address to hand when you sign up.

Disney Plus - Movie lovers can indulge in all the Disney classics and more with 15% off a monthly subscription. You can enjoy this discount if you have a Unidays or Student Beans membership. 

Paramount Plus - For those who love live sports, exclusive originals and movies there is a 25% discount on the essential monthly subscription at Paramount Plus. Only accredited university students are eligible for this discount so you will need your Uni email address to access the savings. 

YouTube Music - If you love streaming ad-free music, https://www.youtube.com/musicpremium/student could be the answer you have been looking searching for. Students can enjoy the first month free, after that, it’s £4.99 per month. Use your Uni email address to subscribe. 

Make Travel and Holiday Plans for Less

National Express - Whether you’re planning a holiday or taking a trip home to see the folks, you can save 15% off coach travel with National Express. To access this discount you will need to have either Student Beans, Unidays, TOTUM or Prime Student membership. 

Flixbus - This online booking system allows travellers to book bus travel in the UK and Europe. Flixbus use green buses to offer a sustainable and convenient alternative to private transport. You can get 10% off bookings made on the app when you have a Unidays membership.

Trainline - Student Beans members can get on track with 20% off digital railcards at Trainline. Student Beans will provide you will a code that will allow you to access this discount. 

Hotels.com - If a hotel break is on the cards you can save 10% off your stay at Hotels.com. This offer is only available via Unidays, log into your account to access this discount.

Expedia - Expedia have discounts for students available throughout the year. The offers are available periodically throughout the year. You will need to verify your student status when booking a student offer. Past discounts have included money off hostels, beaches and city getaways.  

Get Discounts on Health Essentials

Specsavers - With the increased amount of screen time and reading weeks, you will want to ensure your eye health is in tip-top condition. Specsavers offer a 25% discount on glasses over £69 and designer glasses over £99. If you want this discount in-store, you will need a form of valid student ID, including the NUS Extra Card, Student Beans or TOTUM. If you are shopping online, you will need to have a Student Beans membership. 

Vision Express - At Vision Express, there is a discount of 20% available on glasses, contact lenses and prescription sunglasses. Just pop along to your local branch with your student ID and book an appointment. 

The Gym Group - The Gym Group has an exclusive student membership deal available from £119 for 9 months. The membership includes 24/7 access to any two gyms of your choice, free gym classes, access to the latest gym equipment and unlimited access to the exercise hub. You will need a student ID when you apply for this special-price membership.  

Pure Gym - Unidays members can get up to 30% off 6, 9 and 12-month memberships and £0 joining fee at Pure Gym. With access to personal trainers and 24/7 availability at the gym, it’s a good way to work off a few pints and pizza. 

Nutfield Health - keep fit and active with 20% off gym membership at Nutfield Health. It’s easy to access this discount with a valid student ID, don’t walk, run! 

Holland and Barrett - Pick up your health essentials for 20% less at Holland and Barrett. From protein powders to vitamins, you will find everything you need to maintain good health. Who knows - maybe there is something to fix a hangover? Use your Unidays membership to get 20% off. 

Savings on Cinema and Theatre Trips

The National Theatre - There are hundreds of shows available every year via The National Theatre. If you are aged between 16 to 25 you can nab tickets for as little as £5 and £10. Head to The National Theatre website to book tickets and ensure you take your photo ID with you to each performance you attend. 

Young Vic - Students can enjoy tickets for £12 for every production at Young Vic. Tickets are limited so you need to move fast. You can book online and take your student ID with you to the performance.

The Royal Shakespeare Company - The Royal Shakespeare Company offer £10 TikTok tickets. This initiative is to support young people's love of theatre and live performance. You will need to register online and terms and conditions apply. 

The Royal Opera House - The ROH in Covent Garden is a pretty amazing venue, but tickets can cost as much as £200, which is not exactly budget-friendly! However, sign up for the Student Standby Scheme and you will get notifications about upcoming £10 tickets. You might only get 24 hours' notice before the performance, so it’s a great option for students based in London and surrounding areas.

Odeon Cinemas - If you love a trip to the movies, see the latest blockbuster at Odeon. Although Odeon no longer offers concession tickets you can still enjoy an MYLIMITLESS membership from £14.99, it also gives you 10% off selected drinks and food. 

Cineworld - Consider registering for free to My Cineworld. Take advantage of the concession rates available to students. Savings depend on the viewing times but expect to save up to £2.50 on the full ticket price.  

Get Money Off Tech and Software Essentials

Adobe Creative Cloud - With over 20 creative apps, Adobe Creative Cloud is an essential bit of kit for most students. There is a whopping 65% discount on offer when you sign up with your Uni email address. Reducing the cost from £51.98 monthly to just £16.24. 

Microsoft Office 356 - Office 365 Education is FREE for all students. The package includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Microsoft Teams. It’s a must for all students and easy to access with your university email address. 

Dell - Starting a new course means getting prepared, which might mean you are shopping for a new laptop. Dell Advantage for Students can save you up to 20% off a range of electronics and provides free delivery. Use your academic email to get this discount. 

Apple Mac and iPad - Apple Education Pricing is available to students once verified on Unidays. In general, savings are approximately 10%, occasionally a little more. If you are investing in a MacBook Pro or iPad, it’s worth taking a look. 

HP - The HP Student Perks offer exclusive promotions, discounts, free delivery and expert advice. There is an abundance of discounts on laptops to printers, you can potentially save up to 40%. Just sign up with your academic email address, and you’re on your way to some awesome savings.  

GitHub - Are you a tech or software student? Do you need professional apps and courses for programming and more? Then the GitHub Student Developer Pack is a must. This free package provides extensive professional software for students studying a related field.

Student Savings for Fashionistas

ASOS - With over 850 brands on board, any fashion-conscious student will make use of the 10% discount that ASOS  offer. Simply complete the form on the ASOS website using your student email address, and you’re good to go! 

JD Sports - Who doesn’t love fresh creps straight out of the box? That’s why this 20% student discount from JD Sports is awesome. You can get 20% off clothing too, just access a discount code from Unidays, Students Beans or TOTUM. 

Superdry - Fans of Superdry can enjoy 10% off t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and other wardrobe staples. Your student ID is verified via Unidays. 

Ray-Ban - A great pair of sunnies is a must for summer. Invest in an iconic pair of Ray-Bans and save 25% with the student discount. You can access this discount with a Unidays membership. 

Monki - There is a 20% discount available to students at Monki, and it includes sale items. You will need to verify your student status, to do that, you need a Student Beans, Unidays or Totum membership. 

Schuh - Walk out in style with the extensive choice of footwear available at Schuh and get 10% off. Head to the Schuh website and complete the student discount form. You will be sent a unique student discount code that will last the rest of your time as a student. 

EGO - Shoeaholics can rejoice with this fashion-forward footwear brand. From over-the-knee boots to killer heels, EGO has footwear for every outfit. And with 15% off for students with a Unidays membership, it’s a win-win.  

Bershka - Stylish, savvy students enjoy a helpful 10% off all orders at Bershka, so if you enjoy getting a sweet deal on the latest fashion trends, you may want to check it out.

Other Ways to Save

In general, it pays to join the student membership discount schemes that are available. As you can see, some of the discounts we have discovered require one of these memberships, a student ID or an academic email address.

International Student Identity Card (ISIC) 

This virtual card is internationally recognised. The ISIC costs £12 and provides discounts on shopping, travel and more, as well as acting as a recognised student ID. It has a handy app so you can access your card at any time wherever you are. 

Student Beans

Now one of the most popular ways to access student discounts across the UK. A Student Beans account is free, you sign up using your academic email address. As you can see from our suggestions, a Student Beans membership is often required. 

Unidays

Unidays membership gives you both online and in-store access to hundreds of discounts. It works in the same way as Student Beans, but they often have different discounts available at any given time. It’s free to sign up and essential when grabbing excellent deals. 

TOTUM

Formally the NUS Extra Card, TOTUM offers UK students great discounts on hundreds of brands. They also offer regular giveaways and competitions. In addition to this, TOTUM gives students a free Tastecard that offers 2 for 1 at restaurants and cafes as well as discounts on cinema tickets and days out.
