These are my top tips to make mum feel loved.

It’s time to do everything you can to make sure that mum feels special. Find out her favourite flower, bake a delicious sweet treat, and pull out all of the stops. Here, we know that one size does not fit all, and not all mums are the same.

So we’ve created several articles dedicated to different ways to treat mum this Mother’s Day. Whether it’s about spending quality time, finding the most thoughtful gifts, or planning a proper day off for her, I’ve done the work so you don’t have to.

When is Mother’s Day 2026?

This year, Mother’s Day is Sunday, 15th March, which is much earlier than last year. I always find it sneaks up on me, so I like to start thinking about it in early March at the latest.

Best Mother’s Day gift ideas

When I buy gifts for my mum, I like to spend time thinking about what she’d truly love and appreciate. Think an affirmation jar, a new mug, a skincare product from her wishlist, or some luxury pyjamas.

It’s less about buying items that she needs (though she might still be thankful for these) and more about surprising her with treats that she might not usually buy for herself.

Instead of functional gifts, I’ve come up with a list of heartfelt present ideas for Mother’s Day, specifically chosen to show mum some love.

Best ways to spend time together

Over the last couple of years, I’ve prioritised spending time with my mum on Mother’s Day, and we’ve both loved it. From cooking her a delicious roast dinner to going for a long walk together, we’ve tried tons of different activities.

Sometimes it feels like most of the options for Mother’s Day cost an absolute fortune. But I don’t want that to stop you from making more memories together, especially if you’ve got a tight budget. That’s why I’ve compiled 11 of the best free ways to spend time together, and they’re all sure to be a hit.

Plan the ultimate day off

One of the things I’ve heard unanimously from mums around the country is that all they really want is a day off – and now, with my guide on how to plan the ultimate day off for her, you can make this dream a reality.

Get yourself organised and make sure that she doesn’t have to think of a single thing. Give her the luxury of a slow morning (maybe even a lie-in), and absolutely spoil her rotten. The key with this one is to ensure that everything is low-pressure so she can truly relax.

Find out what she actually wants to do

If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to keep everything a surprise for Mother’s Day - and I hear you. But sometimes it’s still worth speaking to mum over a cuppa and a piece of cake, to find out what she’d really like to do – Mother’s Day afterall is all about her.

Spend some time to discuss options that you can choose from (or choose a mixture of). That way, it’s still a surprise, and you know your mum will love every minute of it.

If it were up to my mum, she’d have us go for a (ridicuously) long walk, followed by going back to her house and watching her favourite series. She’d probably want to put her feet up and have to do absolutely nothing – what better way to celebrate motherhood?

Home & Garden Writer

I’m Layla, the home and garden editor, and I started working at MyVoucherCodes in November 2022. I have always loved to write, especially after getting my degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, and since getting my own place, I’ve gotten stuck into all things home and garden.

When I’m not writing about saving money on homely purchases, I’m either sitting with my head in a new book, painting a piece of art for my walls, or binge-watching an interior design programme on Netflix. I love to get inspiration and transform my space, usually with the help of a few Pinterest boards and a couple of tins of paint.
