Euro 2020: Best Match Day Experience at Home

Share

The Euro’s are well and truly underway, and what a start to the tournament we’ve had. The mighty Wales have already cruised (sort of) through to the knockout stages only to get hammered in the last 16, Scotland crashed out at the group stage even with fantastic/disappointing draw with England, depending on which side of the border you’re cheering from. But it wouldn’t be a major tournament without England stuttering against a side they should put away easily. At least that’s out the way early and they progressed to of the group regardless.

With the group games out of the way, things are going to heat up on the pitch. Knockout football brings all the drama, the hold your breath moments, and the agony of an early exit. Last minute winners and penalty shoot out nerves are all coming our way and you don’t want to miss a second of it. To help you feel every pulse racing finish and roar of real crowds, we’ve put together the tech you can upgrade to make the match day experience world beating.

4K TV

Upgrading your TV is a must if you want to see Marcus Rashford smash in the winner against Germany in extraordinary detail. Ultra high definition TVs have come down in price in recent years and they are now the standard. The acronyms are out in full force with LED, UHD, OLED, and DLED. OMG. If that all sounds like gibberish to you, check out our full guide to Buying a New TV. It answers all the key questions and will get you in touch with a top tele in no time. When it comes to the Euro’s though, a SMART TV will come with a host of apps that make keeping up with the games easy. BBC iPlayer and ITV hub will come ready to go so you won’t have to miss a kick. Although, England fans may want to look away at times.

Sound Bar

How good has it been to hear crowds back in the stadium? There’s nothing quite like a packed crowd belting out a national anthem and who doesn’t love the shots of fans in fancy dress just after their team concedes? If you want to boost the volume and feel the crowd like you’re a referee that’s just sent Ethan Ampadu off, a sound bar is the way to go. They are a compact row of speakers that you can sit in front of your TV or mount on your wall. They take up less space than traditional surround sound systems, but they pack the same punch.

Modern TVs are incredibly slim and which is great for space and the look, but the lack of space impacts the speakers inside your tele. They simply aren’t able to produce the best sound quality and upgrading to a dedicated sound bar will let you feel every blow of the whistle and roar of the crowd. This makes a massive difference for an immersive experience.

Euro 2020 Half Time Snacks

Not being in the stadium means you can upgrade the half time snacks. I mean, if you miss the lukewarm pie that may punish you later, you can go ahead. But getting the mid game eats in is probably the only positive of missing out on a trip to the Wembly. Whether you fancy pizza, burgers, or even sushi, you can get whatever you want, and you won’t find inflated stadium prices.

These days food from all over the world is available with a few clicks and you’ll be tucking into winning flavours. If you’re feeling adventurous you could always tailor your food choices to the opposition. Anyone know what the national dish of the Czech Republic? Pork dumpling with cabbage you say.

Get the Euro 2020 Drinks In

Whether you’re celebrating a winner or cursing the sitter Kane missed, an ice cold drink and the football go together like England and tournament glory. Okay, that’s a bad example. But they go together really well.

Whenever a tournament year rolls around, you can pick up fantastic deals on lager and cider which make them the obvious choice. But that’s all a bit basic, isn’t it? Besides, it’s summer, and that means cocktail season. Dust off the shaker, pick up the sparklers and little umbrellas and go all out with your drinks choices. Nothing says football like a crushed ice Pina Colada that has half a rainforest growing out the top of it.

Bring the Optimism

Whatever happens on the pitch, don’t stop believing and don’t worry about getting carried away. Obviously the whole street wants to hear you sing It’s Coming Home at midnight, because they believe too. They should. As football fans it’s our right, our duty to stare down facts, ignore history, and slap away stats. Delusion doesn’t exist in football.

Anything can happen and that’s what makes the beautiful game so, well, beautiful. Getting swept along in the euphoria is what makes international tournaments special, and we don’t need the negativity out in the universe making the ball move on the penalty spot. We haven’t forgotten about that Uri. Could have saved it for the Germans.

Celebrate Football with Euro 2020

However you’re watching, whoever you’re supporting, make the most of Euro 2020. It’s a great excuse to get together with your favourite people and feel the excitement. You never know, England might surprise us all and actually win the thing. But the party doesn’t need to stop once they get knocked out. We’re sure Wales will still fly the flag for the home nations.
