How Best to Care for BlindsBlinds need to be kept away from damp, so a room that does not get a lot of light is a no no, where blinds are concerned. Doubly important is to ensure your blinds are well ventilated, so a room without an operable window is not appropriate, it's best to have your blinds in a room that gets a lot of daytime sunlight - so a westerly facing room is a great option. If you currently do have blinds in a dark room, without much ventilation its a good idea to clean them to avoid or remove any mould that might have grown. To remove mould or mildew the first port of call is to check the material of the blind, for metal and other waterproof material soak them in a big tub or a bath with hot water, washing up liquid and bleach. Fabric blinds and curtains may be dry cleaned or if the mould is particularly bad, remove them from the wall lay flat, and using a soft brush wipe off the mould, wipe down with cloth lightly dipped in detergent.
